Access to Higher Education 2018 - Students with special needs

This year the special contingent for candidates with physical and sensory disabilities, increases the number of seats to 4 percent in the first phase and, for the first time, it contemplates vacancies in the 2nd phase of candidacy in 2 percent. Organized by the General Directorate of Higher Education, the national competition begins in July.

The DGES also offers the incluIES counter, where information such as support services for the disabled, accessibility of buildings and web pages, sports infrastructures, production units, scholarships for students with more than 60 percent of disabilities, of higher education institutions and private education institutions in Portugal.

The measures are part of the "Inclusion for Knowledge" program, developed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, which places the promotion of the accessibility of citizens with special needs to higher education and knowledge as a nuclear objective, since it constitutes a means essential for the exercise of the rights conferred on any member of a democratic and inclusive society.
