Iberian Higher Education Institutions extend institutional cooperation

The University of Beira Interior received last May 20th the VI Plenary of the Conference of the Southwest European Rectors (CRUSOE), bringing together representatives of about two dozen Portuguese and Spanish Higher Education Institutions.

One of the main conclusions of the Covilhã meeting was the announcement of the reinforcement of the exchange of teachers, researchers and students. Institutional collaboration with the local/regional authorities for a more efficient raising of EU funds was also defined as a goal.

The CRUSOE gathers polytechnics and universities from the north and center regions of Portugal and from Asturias, Castilla y Leon and Galicia regions in Spain. Portugal is represented in the organization by the Universities of Aveiro, Beira Interior, Coimbra, Minho, Porto, Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro; and Polytechnic Institutes of Bragança, Cavado and Vale do Ave, Porto, and Viana do Castelo.
